In the fast-paced realm of technology, the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) has been nothing short of revolutionary over the past two years. This rapid progress highlights the growing significance of acquiring coding skills and harnessing AI tools for optimal individual outcomes. Recognizing this, the Tech Startup Club (TSC) at Bellevue College took the initiative to bridge the knowledge gap by hosting an AI workshop on November 20, 2023. This event welcomed individuals from diverse backgrounds, providing them with an opportunity to delve into the operations and intricacies of artificial intelligence.
Workshop Highlights:
The workshop commenced with the introduction of two innovative programs developed by the TSC – the “Meal Prediction Program” and the “Routine Prediction Program.” TSC’s President, Justin Liao, set the stage by elucidating the functionality and purpose behind these programs. These applications served as tangible examples of how AI can be applied to predict and streamline everyday activities.
The Complexity Unveiled:
Our Tech Lead, Thomas Seun, then took the audience on a journey through the intricate algorithms that power these programs. He delved into the complexities behind the scenes, shedding light on how the algorithms retrieve and process data to make accurate predictions for meals and routines. This deep dive not only showcased the technical prowess of the TSC team but also demystified the seemingly arcane world of AI algorithms.
Connecting the Dots with AI Tools:
Drawing parallels to widely known AI tools like ChatGPT and Bard, the workshop emphasized the practical applications of AI in everyday scenarios. By aligning the locally developed programs with these tools, participants gained a broader perspective on the versatility and adaptability of AI across different domains.

To solidify the understanding of the concepts discussed, the workshop took a hands-on approach. Attendees were encouraged to download and explore the codes, providing them with a firsthand experience of coding and AI implementation.
